The Property Electrical Health Check

You should have a Property Electrical Health Check Carried Out if any of the following applies to you:

  Youve not had the electrics checked in your home within the last 10 years;

  You have been told your home needs to be rewired;

  You have recently moved into the property or dont know how old your wiring/fuse board is;

  You have had electrical work carried out at the property since January 2005 and were never given any certificates for those works so dont think it complies with this current Building Regulation standards;

  Your fuses blow regularly;

  You have replaceable fuse wire in your fuse board;

  Your plugs &/or sockets sometimes feel hot after use;

We are currently offering the following partial upgrade packages:

Option 1:  - Replacement Fuse box, Earthing to Mains, Gas and Water supply                                       From 395

Option 2: - Replacement Fuse box, Earthing to Mains, Gas and Water Supply. All accessories renewed (i.e. sockets, switches, spurs, ceiling roses, single sockets changed to doubles if required, mains smoke detectors fitted (1 per floor))                                                            From 849

9 out of 10 Home Owners are often incorrectly informed that they need a full  rewire in order to bring the electrics in their home up to the most current Building Regulation Standards when in fact in most instances a partial upgrade is often more appropriate. A partial rewire is less expensive and does not involve the same upheaval and decorative damage as a full rewire.

If we recommend that work be carried out to your property to make it safe then we will discuss and agree the most efficient and affordable way to meet your electrical needs. We will also confirm if no work is needed, so your peace of mind wont cost you a penny. All of our quotations are free of charge including the Property Electrical Health Check quotation. If work is recommended then your written quotation will be valid for 3 months from the date given.

About Us and Certification

We are time served, qualified City and Guilds (JIB Approved) Electrical Engineers. We have worked in the electrical industry for 20 years and have gained vast knowledge in the trade. We are fully insured, we have public liability insurance to the value of 2Million and most importantly all of our work is certified, we are registered with NAPIT www.napit.org.uk and we are also part of TRUSTMARK the Government Endorsed Standards www.trustmark.org.uk

All work carried out since January 2005 must comply with the current regulations, this is the law.Since this date all electrical work must be certified this is to ensure for safety reasons that the work is only carried out by people who are competent and are qualified in what they are doing.Upon the completion of your electrical works we will provide you with a minor electrical works certificate to confirm that the electrical installation work carried out at your property/premises has been carried out, inspected and tested in accordance with the requirements for Electrical Installations.

You must retain the certification for your own records as you may be asked to produce it at some point in the future by your local building inspector or your insurer etc. It is your responsibility to be able to show that the works have been carried out by an approved contractor who complied with the current regulations. It is an offence to breach these regulations. The regulations were implemented as a way of ensuring that only competent contractors work with electrical wiring as it prevents faulty and dangerous installations that can cause injury or even death.

Furthermore, if you sell your home at some point in the future, your Buyers Solicitor will ask for these certificates to be produced in their absence you could be asked for the works to be inspected by a qualified electrician at your expense and any faults that are found would need to be rectified.

If a tradesman says they can do electrical work for you but offers an excuse as to why they cant provide you with a certificate then do not use them, they are unlikely to be a qualified electrician. Before work commences you should check to see if they are registered with NAPIT or the NICEIC.
